Notes from WelcomeDriver:
Colorado requires that if you are under 16, you complete a DMV-approved driver education course to earn an affidavit of completion. This affidavit is required to obtain your instruction permit (learner permit) and ultimately your driver's license.
It is approved by the Colorado Dept. of Revenue Agencies for any student or licensee statewide.
The course was designed to allow all young drivers to receive a driving education regardless of where they live.
Consists of only the classroom phase of your requirements
This course consists of 10 modules, 37 quizzes, and 10 module tests
Colorado only allows 8 months to complete the Online course.
The Log in Timer is Confusing - so it was removed - Only the Course time Timer is what counts to meet 30 hrs of reading = attendance
This 30 hr course needs to match the classroom requirements
Timer 1- Log in Log out timer ( End of each day, the reading time is calculated and shown as attendance, no matter if 5 or 20 hrs are logged in)
Timer 2- Reading coursework - attendance (this is the one that needs to meet 30 hrs)
30 hrs of attendance. Attendance for the Online course means reading time
Log in time = Being in the school
Reading time = attendance for 30 hrs
What counts as reading time:
Each page read for 1 min or more
Each quiz (once you pass the quiz, you can no longer retake it)
Each test (once you pass a Unit test, you can no longer retake it)
Watching each Video
What does not count as Reading
Opening another tab while in the course (similar to leaving the class)
The course is on the screen, and the student walks away for 15 minutes or more
The student does not log out, and the timer continues
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
How to Build 30 hrs of attendance
1- Log in
2- Spend more than 1 min per page
3- Slow down - your reading silently is faster than a teacher can speak
4- If you log in for XYZ minutes at a time, the time you read is less than your login time
5- At the end of each day, your reading time only is documented
6- When you come to a Video, you can re-watch it several times, or when you need to get more reading time, watch it while it is open, or at the end to build missing reading/attendance time.
7- Always remember to log out
FAQ's:
If I finish all the tests, do I still have to have 30 hours?
Answer: Yes! As stated in the Agreement, you must log at least 30 reading hours in this program, as well as complete all the requirements to receive a certificate.
Go back to the 1st Unit/Module and rewatch videos or read the pages in the Book again.
What is required to receive a certificate?
Answer: All students are required to pass the final test with an 80%. To be eligible to take the final, each student must: pass every quiz with at least an 80%, pass every module test with an 80%, and log AT LEAST 30 “course hours.”
How do I get a certificate of completion?
Answer: Once you have completed the Final exam and passed the course, WelcomeDriver will advise 4CSA to then file it in the Colorado state's database (this can take up to 2 business days). The certificate is then created on the Colorado State site and will be emailed to you by the state of Colorado. Please check the email that you used to sign up with WelcomeDriver, including spam and junk folders, as you will get an email directly from the Colorado Department of Revenue, Division of Motor Vehicles. Check your spam and junk folders, and if you still can't find it, after 2 business days, then 4CSA can go into the DMV’s system, find you guys, and have them send you a new one, but this takes time, and you will be charged for it: $25 Check, or $27 Venmo.
