In-person Drivers Ed

How It Works

The in-person program consists of a 30-hour classroom course plus 6 hours of behind-the-wheel (BTW) driving lessons. The total cost is $600.

• Although the state of Colorado allows a student as young as 14 years and 9 months old to take the class, we require the student to take the LAST class offered before they are 15yo. If you choose an earlier class & the class fills up, you will be bumped to the next available class and lose your deposit.

• If we do not get at least 10 students signed up for any class, that month's class will be canceled, and all students will transfer to the next month's class. You will be notified ahead of time.

You will need to pre-register your child by going to https://mydmv.colorado.gov/_/. Click on the "Apply for a Driver License or ID" link and then click on the "Next" link. After that, follow the online instructions. Once you have completed the process, there will be a pre-registration number. You will need to provide that number in our registration form when you register your child for this class with us.

A parent/guardian must attend an Orientation with the student. Paperwork & Remaining Payment will be turned in, and then there will be a one-hour presentation concerning the GDL program in this state and how it works. We will also address your questions about the requirements for teenagers getting a permit and license, and review the penalties.

2027 Classes have not been announced yet, but are usually in March, June, July, August, November, & December. 2027 classes will be announced at the beginning of 2027. Please check back at that time.

*Please note that 30-hour students will need to bring the following items:​

• Pen and/or pencil.

• Paper.

• Copy of the Colorado Driver Handbook (available at the DMV or online).

• Lunch.

The 30+6 class are held at 1911 Main Avenue, Ste. 122, Durango, CO.

• Course completion certificates are only valid with the DMV for 180 days.
