How It Works

Please be advised that the DMV no longer administers the Drivers Test directly. Consequently, we will arrange your test promptly following your final Behind The Wheel (BTW) lesson, a procedure that has contributed to improved test scores.

To complete your registration and scheduling, we require two items from you:

1. Registration form (button below)

2. Signed BTW Contract; (button below) a parent/guardian must sign (with an actual signature) and return the enclosed BTW Contract. The signed contract can be submitted as a clear photograph via email 4csasecretary@gmail.com or via text (970-426-8615); a PDF is not necessary.

Upon receipt of both the registration form and signed contract, we will notify you via email regarding scheduling.

If the student has successfully completed our in-person (non-online) 30-hour classroom Driver’s Ed course with Tim, please inform us of the month and year of completion. You have already settled the payment for the lessons, and there is no need to sign the contract again; however, you are required to submit the registration form because the student did not possess their permit at that time. Please remember, you have one year from the issuance of the permit to complete the BTW’s without incurring $50/hr additional fees, in accordance with the contract signed during that class.

SCHEDULING:

The course comprises three sessions, each lasting two hours, with the driving test scheduled immediately following the final lesson. We recommend distributing the lessons as follows: the first lesson at the beginning, the second lesson halfway through, and the last (which includes the test) on or after the eligibility date (1 year of holding the permit).

While it is preferable to have a longer interval between lessons to allow students to practice what they have learned at home, lessons cannot be scheduled less than 2 weeks apart. Moreover, you must complete at least 10 of the 50 state-required hours of driving with a licensed driver prior to your first lesson with us and all 50 hours by the final lesson and test.

• The 1st two Lessons commence at 8am, 10am, 1pm, or 3pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

• The final lesson & test occur during 8–10:30am, 9:30am–12pm, 1–3:30pm, or in summer; 2:30–5pm / in winter; 2-4:30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Appointments during weekdays are currently being scheduled approximately 6+ weeks in advance, while Saturdays are about 2+ months out.

If you are unable to attend an appointment, it is essential that you cancel or reschedule in writing (via email or text to 970-426-8615) at least two full business days before your appointment. Failure to adhere to this policy will incur a $50 rescheduling fee. For late arrivals and no-shows, a $50 rescheduling fee will also apply. If the appointment pertains to a discounted second test, the discount will be forfeited. Repeated cancellations or missed appointments will be asked to seek alternative driving arrangements.

Please meet the instructor in the north parking lot close to the "Student Driver" vehicles (specifically, a black Toyota Camry or a burgundy Honda CRV). We kindly request that you refrain from parking in our reserved spaces, but ensure you arrive at the vehicles by your scheduled appointment time.

PAYMENTS:

Behind the Wheel (BTW) Lessons can be paid for in cash, by check, or via Venmo:

• $500 cash or check (made payable to 4CSA or Four Corners Safety Association) due to the instructor at your first lesson.

• $510 via Venmo (@fcsadgo), to be paid 48 hours prior to your first appointment.

• Driver’s Test: $65 cash, payable directly to the instructor on the day of your test.

How the Lessons Work:

The six hours are segmented into three, two-hour sessions. We recommend scheduling one session now, another halfway through your training, and the final session just prior to the driving test to maximize your chances of success.

• You must possess your current, valid Colorado learner’s permit with an expiration date.

• If under 18 years old: You must hold your permit for a full year before undertaking the driving test.

• Students may opt-out if they are 16 ½ years old or older, or live more than 30 miles from any driving school location. Additionally, you are required to complete 12 extra hours with a parent or guardian, for a total of 62 driving hours.

• You must complete at least 10 hours driving with a licensed driver prior to your first lesson.

• To operate a vehicle, you must possess your current, valid Colorado learner’s permit with an expiration date at all times.

• Rescheduling due to a no-show / arriving late / cancellation incurs a fee of +$50.

• Although having more time between lessons is preferable for students to practice what they have learned at home, lessons cannot be scheduled less than 2 weeks apart.

How the Driver’s Test Works:

• 4CSA is certified by the State of Colorado to conduct driver’s tests. Payment is required in exact cash upon arrival.

• 1st Driver Test: $65

• 2nd Driver Test within 30 days of the 1st test: $65 *Note: immediate rescheduling is essential to ensure availability within the 30 days. After 30 days, the fee reverts to the regular $80.

• 3rd and subsequent tests: $80 each

• Rescheduling due to a no-show / arriving late / cancellation incurs a fee of +$50.

• If you are under 18 years old, you must hold your permit for a full year before testing.

• The test typically lasts 20–25 minutes, with an additional 5–10 minutes required to enter your information into the DRIVES database maintained by the DMV. We recommend allocating 30 minutes in total. Please be advised that no physical paperwork will be issued; results are directly entered into the DMV system, and any required licensing fees must be paid at the DMV.

• Should you pass the test on your first attempt (absent any unusual circumstances), you have the option to convert your permit to a driver’s license online: https://dmv.colorado.gov/anywhere.

• If you cannot or choose not to apply online, you must schedule a DMV appointment either by phone or online: https://dmv.colorado.gov/AppointmentScheduling. NO walk-ins! Note: The DMV ceases processing licenses after 4:00 pm.

• To legally operate a vehicle, it is necessary to possess your current, valid Colorado learner’s permit with an expiration date at all times.

YOU UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE BASIC OPERATOR DRIVING SKILL TEST FOR THE COMPLETION OF REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN A LICENSE, AND THAT THERE ARE NO REFUNDS. THIS DOES NOT GUARANTEE A PASSING GRADE. TO OBTAIN A LICENSE, YOU MUST PASS THE DRIVE TEST AS ASCRIBED BY THE STATE OF COLORADO DRIVER TESTING AND EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF THE DIVISION OF MOTOR VEHICLES OF THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE AS ADOPTED FROM THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE ADMINISTRATORS’ GUIDELINES AND CLEARLY OUTLINED IN THE COLORADO DRIVER HANDBOOK. We reserve the right to refuse service to any individual whom we consider to be argumentative, combative, or entirely disrespectful toward our evaluations and guidance, as well as toward any employee of the Four Corners Safety Association. Such individuals will be asked to leave and seek alternative testing arrangements.
